Gyroresonance measurements: FASR issues
• Require high spatial resolution imaging across the whole Sun at closely spaced frequencies from 1-20 GHz: large no of antennas, antenna size issue, mosaicking at high frequencies?
•
• Time resolution not crucial compared to other goals
•
• Clearly valuable to have as broad an instantaneous bandwidth coming into the correlator as possible for continuity in frequency, gives more flexibility in data selection
•
• Frequency resolution of order 5% (60 frequencies from 1-20 GHz): gives 1 arcsec vertical resolution for plausible LB
•
• Standard gyroresonance analysis only requires 2 circular polarizations
